MG K3, Goodwood Revival

Lotus BRM 24, Goodwood Revival

Among the Lotus cars at Goodwood, which I looked at yesterday, was this BRM powered Lotus 24 seen driven by Nigel Williams which carries the bodywork from a Lola Mk4 as it did when Peter Revson drove it in 1964.

Auto Union C-Type, Goodwood Revival

Today's post features some of the Silver Arrows dating from 1934 to 1939 from both Mercedes Benz and Auto Union which were demonstrated at Goodwood. Above is a 1936 Auto Union C-type, driven by 5 times Le Mans winner Frank Biela similar to those driven by Bernd Rosemeyer to three race victories and the European Grand Prix Championship.

Welcome to GALPOT Weekly #48 a review of the last seven posts from "Gettin' a li'l psycho on tyres".

Knight Industries Two Thousand, Rare Breeds, Haynes International Motor Museum

This week started with a visit to the Haynes International Motor Museum for the Rare Breeds show. Though it was a little after my time as a television addict in my humble opinion the talking Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T) stole the show.

MG Magnette, Bristol Classic Car Show, Shepton Mallet

Advertised with “Spots-car Performance, Family-car Comfort, Small-car Economy” it is perhaps not surprising that the MG Magnette ZB I looked at on Tuesday out sold the similarly bodied Wolseley 15/50 BMC stable mate 3 to 2 between 1956 and 1958.

Napier Railton, Brooklands Double Twelve

Driven by John Cobb the Napier Railton holds the Brooklands out right circuit record at 143.44 mph set in 1936 in perpetuity. The Napier Railton which I looked at on Wednesday also stared in a film alongside James Mason and Ava Gardner in 1951.

Morman Sixteen, Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance

Lurking beneath the bonnet of the Marmon Sixteen, which I looked at on Thursday is an aluminium 200hp 8.1 litre / 491 cui V16 motor that earned it's designer Howard Marmon a Society of Automotive Engineers annual design award.

Ferrari 166MM, Hillsborough, Concours d'Elegance

Ferrari Friday was all about the Ferrari 166MM #0022M which, like the Marmon Sixteen, was seen at the Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance by Geoffrey Horton.

Edsel Ranger, Goodwood Revival

On Tuesday I celebrated the 55th Aniversary of E Day with a look at a 1958 Edsel Ranger.

W.O. Bentley described Wednesdays featured car seen above as a Pervesion and Corruption, he also inadvertently created an incorrect myth about these cars never having won a race.

MG YB, Summer Classics, Easter Compton

Thursdays post was about this one and a quarter litre MG YB, a pre '39/45 war design that did not go into production until 1947. MG posts will be returning to Tuesday as usual next week.

Among the most alluring of prototype sports car designs is the 1969 Ferrari 312P Berlinetta, chassis #0872 as seen above has a class winning history.

Lotus Ford 61, Brooklands Double Twelve

Yesterday's post featured a more humble design from 1969 the wedge shaped Lotus 61 Formula Ford racer belonging to hill climber Les Buck.

Rolls Royce Silver Ghost by Brockman, Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance

Unique amongst Rolls Royce Silver Ghosts must be this 1921 copper bodied example with coachwork by Brockman which was seen by Geoffrey Horton at Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for joining me on this "GALPOT Weekly #47" blog, I hope you have enjoyed catching up with the last seven posts from the "Gettin' a li'l psycho on tyres" blog with the links provided and that you will join me daily during the week ahead. Don't forget to come back now !

Cadillac, 6 Window Sedan, Summer Classics, Easter Compton

Americana Thursdays post featured this 1959 Cadillac 6 Window Sedan, unfortunately the exterior distinguishing details between the Series 62 and de Deville options are missing so I have been unable to determine which it is.

Ferrari 166MM, Goodwood, Festival Of Speed

Ferrari Fridays blog featured this 1950 Ferrari 166 MM a chassis which had a short racing career in period but has been seen at many Classic events since primarily driven by Sally Mason-Styrron.

Lotus 58, Goodwood Festival of Speed

Surely counting as one of the coolest looking cars never to have raced in anger the Lotus 58, featured yesterday, was to have served as a racer and test bed for Colin Champman's pet de Dion suspension which he hoped to use on the Lotus 57 Grand Prix challenger. A chaotic 1968 season which included two fatalities in the team, numerous accidents and a world championship winning run meant the Lotus 58 never got the opportunity to shine.

Lamborghini 400GT, 6th Annual Carmel by-the-sea Concours

Today's post comes again courtesy Geoffrey Horton's photographs from the 6th Annual Carmel by the Sea Concours d'Elegance. This Lamborghini 400 GT Interim was one of several cars that were difficult to correctly identify.

My thanks to Geoffrey Horton for his many contributions this week.

GALPOT Weekly #44

Welcome to GALPOT Weekly #44 a review of the last seven posts at "Gettin' a li'l psycho on tyres".

Connew PC1 02, Chadwell Heath Library.

Monday's post came about thanks to a reminder from Barry Boor on Sunday night I just managed to finish our "The Connew Story" film, linked here, in time to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Connew Grand Prix car's one and only Grand Prix appearance in the 1972 Austrian Grand Prix.

I have been working on for this film for the last two years and would like to thank everyone who has generously contributed to this no budget production, and to everyone who has, subsequent to it's appearance in the public domain, so graciously commented on the film and sent on links to friends and social networks, according to the youtube stats at the time of writing the film has been viewed over 1000 times.

Cadillac Series 62 Sedan 4 Window Flat Top, Goodwood Revival

Marking the passing of the King in 1977 I posted a blog about the '59 Cadillac Series 62 4 Window Hard Top Sedan above, a model he appears never to have owned but closely associated with the birth and era of Rock'n'Roll culture.

Ferrari 250 LM

Thanks to John Aibels wonderful photographs I looked at the Ferrari 250 LM #6217 on Ferrari Friday, this particular car was very successful on the Italian hills with Edoardo Lualdi-Gabardi at the wheel in 1965 when Edoardo is known to have recorded at least eight overall wins in 1965.
Lotus 56B, Goodwood Festival of Speed

Yesterday Lotus blog was about the one off all wheel drive gas turbine powered Lotus 56B R1 Grand Prix car, which closely resembles the 1968 Lotus 56 Indy 500 contender, most obviously the 56B has side tanks fitted to cope with the extra non stop distance, over 200 miles, the car was expected to cover in world championship races.

Lincoln Zephyr, Summer Classics, Easter Compton

My 700th consecutive daily blog posted to day visits last weeks Summer Classic show at Easter Compton just outside Bristol. My vote for car of the show was this Lincoln Zephyr V12, above, which was visiting from Dresden a mere 800 miles away in Germany.

Lotus 51A, Prescott

Today's post features a rare, one of only 17 built, QSC Quantum Coupé a GRP shell which uses a Ford Fiesta (Mk 1) donor car for it's running gear.
