GALPOT Weekly #20
Apologies that week 20 of GALPOT Weekly is coming several weeks late but unfortunately I have been having a few 'issues' with the main 'Gettin' a li'l psycho on tyres' site
which have made unprecedented demands on my time. I am pleased to say most of these issues seem to have been resolved for the time being and over the next couple of days I hope to belatedly catch up with what should have been happening.
Week 20 was mostly about the Race Retro exhibition at Stoneliegh where amongst many anniversaries the 30th of the Porsche 956/962 series was celebrated.
On Tuesday I looked at the Mk 2 version of the MG-A 1600 with a more powerful 90 hp motor than it's predecessor.
On Wednesday I returned to Race Retro and found a 1974 Ford Capri RS3100 homologation special in the Silverstone Auctions display, it would appear the car failed to find a buyer.
For Americana Thursday I stayed in the Silverstone Auctions display and looked at this Ford Thunderbird complete with the Continental option package, the owner appears to have sustained a loss of some £11,000 as the car sold for £21,000.
For Ferrari Friday it was over to the Donington Collection for a look at this 1967 Ferrari 312 chassis #0007 driven by Chris Amon and Derek Bell.
On Saturday it was back to Race Retro for a look at this restored Lotus 31 Ford Formula 3 car which did not prove a match for it's competition but did prove to be a useful cheap to maintain open wheel training car for racing schools at Snetterton and Brands Hatch.
I rounded out the week with my fifth red car of the week a cute li'l Bertone X1/9 in Meica Red 908 which turns out to have it's origins in the Volvo paint pallet.

105/115 Series - ALFA Romeo 2000 GTV
The ALFA Romeo 2000 GTV was part of the 105/115 Series Coupés in production from 1963 to 1977, it is thought that 37,459 2000 GTV variations were produced from 1971 to 1976.
The Bertone penned bodywork was built onto to shortened Giulia Berlina floorpan, all 105/115 Series Coupés used four cylinder all alloy twin cam engines, this particular one has the largest 1962 cc / 119 cui motor that came equiped with carburettors and was good for 150 hp.
An undetermined number of 105/115 Series Coupés were assembled near Petoria in South Africa allegedly alongside other knock down kits including Datsun's.
Date for your diaries Saturday April 16th Bristol City Centre will be hosting the Italian Auto Moto Festival, today's photo's as were many others featured here over the last 6 months were taken at this event last year.

Sorry Im late. Some idiot in a red Lamborghini parked in my spot.
Following on from yesterdays dream pick up, earlier this year Bristol hosted a classic car show in the middle of town where I saw for the first time up close my all time favourite 2 + 2 sports car and by far my favourite Lamborghini.
Powered by a 3929 cc / 239 cui 325 hp 60 degree V12, this gorgeous if monstrous vehicle measures is 186 inches long, 73 inches wide and is 46 inches high, that's just six inches higher than a GT 40 !
1217 Espada models were built from 1968 to 1978, the name refers to the sword used by Spanish bull fighters .
The Espada was designed by Marcello Gandini of Bertone and reminds me of the vehicles from the 1960's sci fi puppet tv series "Thunderbirds".
